Big Rush Cast

Big Rush Cast is one of those games we picked up expecting to delete within an hour and ended up playing on the tram home three days running. It's an arcade runner-racer hybrid: you steer a vehicle down endless, twisting routes, and the twist is the 'cast' mechanic — you flick to send a projected lane ahead of yourself, previewing where you'll be so you can weave through traffic and gaps before you reach them. It sounds fiddly written down, but in the hand it clicks fast.

Controls are pure one-thumb: swipe left and right to shift lanes, tap and hold to cast the line, release to snap forward along it. On a mid-range phone we tested it stayed smooth even with a lot going on screen. The difficulty curve is kind at first and then quietly ruthless, which is exactly what an arcade game should do.

What we liked most is that a run never overstays its welcome. Sessions are short, restarts are instant, and there's a satisfying little rhythm to chasing your last distance. It's not deep, and it doesn't pretend to be — it's a clean, well-tuned reflex game that respects your time.
