Five free games that don't waste your time

Free mobile games have a bad reputation, and honestly a lot of it is earned. But there are genuinely good ones out there that don't treat you like a wallet with a pulse. Here's what we've been enjoying.

We looked for games where the free version is a real experience, not a demo with a paywall halfway through. Short sessions, fair pacing, and interruptions that don't drive you up the wall.

Arcade titles tend to do best here because their loops are naturally short — a quick run, a quick restart. Puzzle and time-management games can be great too, as long as they're not gating levels behind timers.

Our advice: give a free game its first three days before judging it. Some of them front-load the annoyances, and others save them up. The good ones stay pleasant the whole way through.
