Emberfall Saga

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG that quietly builds up on you. You start with one scrappy hero and a broken village, and forty missions later you've got a party you genuinely care about and a skill tree you've probably rebuilt twice. The combat is turn-based, positioning matters, and there's real satisfaction in setting up a combo that clears a screen of enemies.

The writing is better than it has any right to be for a mobile RPG. Characters remember things, side quests loop back into the main story, and the world feels lived-in rather than a backdrop for grinding. Battles can be sped up when you're revisiting easy areas, which we appreciated.

If it has a flaw, it's that the mid-game asks for a bit of level grinding before a couple of boss fights. Nothing brutal, but worth knowing going in.
